What is Tōtika?

Tōtika pre-qualification is a system developed by Construction Health and Safety New Zealand (CHASNZ) to assess and verify the health and safety capabilities of contractors. It aims to provide assurance that these organisations meet specific health and safety standards and have the necessary systems in place to manage risks in their operations.

Tōtika Pre-Qualification with Avetta

As a gold member scheme of Tōtika, Avetta can offer you a pre-qualification assessment that aligns with Tōtika requirements at a competitive price.

If your organisation is ISO45001 accredited by an IAF Accreditation Body Member for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, then you do not require a prequalification assessment. Visit Tōtika.org directly to upload your ISO45001 document and once verified you will be listed in its database.

Contractors/Suppliers

The following are a few of the many contractors/suppliers who have chosen Avetta for their Tōtika pre-qualification assessment:

       

Step 1 > Complete your Tōtika Requirements

Before you can register your business in Tōtika’s pre-qualification, your company needs to first be registered with Tōtika.
You can do that here.

Please make a note of your category as you will be required to choose your category within the Connect system.

Step 2 > Create your supplier profile

Click here to create your supplier profile, username and password and get started.

Step 3 > Connect to Totika

In the ‘Find Connections’ search field, type Totika.

Add the Totika Supplier Category you were awarded in Step 1 and select Next in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 4 > Service Evaluation

Enter your New Zealand Business Number (if applicable) and complete a quick service evaluation to identify the services your organisation provides.

Select Next in the upper right-hand corner once complete.

Step 5 > Checkout

The cost of registration is dependent on the Totika Supplier Category you selected in Step 2.

Step 6 > Totika Prequalification Assessment

The final step for registration is to successfully complete the Totika Prequalification Assessment.

Select the Network button in the left-hand menu, select your Totika Category and get started.

The documents you’ll be asked to upload may include, but are not limited to:

• WHS Policy
• Safety Management System
• Safe Work Method Statements/JSA/Safe Work Procedures
• Risk Register
• Training Matrices/Training Needs Analysis

Once complete, select Submit in the top-right corner.

Your initial assessment questions and submitted documents will be audited within 10 working days of submission.

Our fast-track service (Vetify add-on service) is within 3 working days turnaround time.

Once your initial assessment has been returned, you will either get a Developing or Performing score:

• Performing score means you have met all core requirements with a score of at least 75%, with no corrective actions needed.
• Developing score means you have not yet met all the core requirements, and you have corrective action/s to address.

If you received a ‘Developing’ score, you are required to choose one of the two available options:

1. Finalise your audit – If you do not wish to make any changes, you can choose to close out and finalise your audit. Your current score will remain as is and cannot be changed. Please note that once you choose to finalise your audit, you will no longer be able to resubmit or make any changes.
2. Address the corrective actions and resubmit – If you want to improve your score, you can make the necessary corrections and resubmit your assessment:
   • You have 3 months from the date you receive your initial assessment to complete the required changes.
   • You can resubmit multiple times within this period if further adjustments are needed.
   • Each resubmission will be reviewed within 5 working days.

Step 7 > Tōtika assessed

Congratulations! Once our auditors have completed and finalised your assessment, you will be issued a full audit report and Tōtika stamp.

Please ensure to upload the audit report directly into the Tōtika Portal. You’ll need to log in and upload the report for verification. Once it’s verified, you will receive your Supplier Listing Certificate, and your Tōtika prequalification will be visible to clients who require it.
